Today Brunswick County announced they were informed of a case of COVID-19 from someone who was visiting the county and is currently here. This won’t count in Brunswick County’s numbers (24 confirmed cases) but is something to note. Given the nature of our county, this likely won’t be the last case of someone being diagnosed while visiting.
The cases in the United States continue to climb at a very rapid rate. New York shows little signs of slowing, despite optimistic reports that suggest otherwise and our state is progressing on a similar path, despite only 2.5k total cases at the time of this writing. North Carolina saw it’s first “jump” in deaths on 4/3 with 9 on the day and the state has 35 total deaths. This will unfortunately climb in the next few weeks, but NC appears to be almost 3 weeks behind New York (New York had a similar case load on 3/18/20). I’m not suggesting we will see the total volume of New York but if you look at New York’s charts and North Carolina’s (infection2020.com) you will see that we have very similar linear graphs (we are just earlier in the process).
I will get more into my thoughts on this at a later time. I hope I am wrong, but I do think there is something missing from the picture.
