Charlotte, Winston Salem, Greensboro, High Point, Durham and Raleigh have all issued orders for residents to “stay-at-home” in an effort to slow the spread.
The main focus in our area continues to center around the risk of individuals fleeing from “hot areas” to the beaches, as well as those who have vacation rentals scheduled in the near future. If you do flee, even if you own a place here, it is your responsibility to self-quarantine for 14 days.
If you have a vacation rental scheduled and cannot travel due to restrictions (notably the fact that vacation rentals have been suspended) you should be able to cancel and get your money back with the vacation rental company or whom you booked with. If you have issues getting your money back, you can take it up with the NC Attorney General Josh Stein by filing a complaint. It is a case by case basis but there are full intentions to ensure all refunds are met if the vacation cannot take place due to COVID-19 restrictions.
We owe to each other to unite together to get through this crisis. Let’s do our part, remain patient, and respect the recommendations of the experts.
